GM Radoslaw Wojtaszek - winner of the tournament
The winner of 5th international tournament of Polonia Wroc³aw is GM Rados³aw Wojtaszek. GM Bartlomiej Macieja also collected the same amount of points, but his Bucholz was lower and as a conseqeunce he took second place. Third on the box was GM Robert Markus of Serbia, who always stayed in touch with leaders.
5th tournament of Polonia Wroc³aw could be enjoyed. It rarely happens that among three sole leaders no one of them finishes at the podium. GM Wojtaszek was impressing by his calm style of play. He didn't take any risk, if it was necessary he took a draw. He entered the first play after win in the last round against Siergiei Tiviakov. Though he played for a win in this tournament Radek played patiently and was safely converting his oppening advantage. Second place came to Macieja, who showed fighting spirit by defeating two GMs(Markowski, Bartel) in last two rounds
The biggest surprise was Georgian Nazi Paikidze who took 7th place despite week start (1/3). In the final rounds she won to WGM Jolanta Zawadzka, IM Pavel Simacek and finally smashed GM Csaba Balogh. She didn't only took the price for best women and player under 2400, but also made an IM norm

Double round for Mateusz Bartel
Two rounds before finish a sole leader is GM Mateusz Bartel, who scored 1,5 points today. He's half point up to GM Wojtaszek, GM Tiviakov and GM Markus. He still has to be very carefull - rivals are only waiting for his mistake. But Mateusz can play under a presure - he's a double polish champion.
Today Open D for youngster has finished. It was won in a great style by Paulus Vaitkevicius of Lithuania.

Three leader after half of tournament
After a fighting 5th round it's getting even more interesting. Now we have three leaders, Kacper Piorun drew in a nice style with GM Balogh and GM Wojtaszek and GM Bartel nicely won to GM Macieja and GM Markowski. We can also see which foreign grandmaster will fight for the grand price. Four of them have only half point less than leaders: Balogh, Tiviakov, Markus and Fridman. The last one already forgot about a painfull defeat in 2nd round and built up his spirit by winning three in a row.
Tomorrow we have two games, so after a long day we'll probably know who is most likely to win the tournament. [2010-06-29]
Third day, two rounds, one leader.
28th of June was a very hard day. Two round and very hot weather made players really tired. Despite this they fough from early morning our till the evening.
Third day brough one big surprise - a leader. Everyone expected that only GM can win this tournament. Unexpectedly IM Kacper Piorun is a sole leader after defeating both Baklan and Rodshtein.
He had a bit of luck, but you have to help yourself to get the chances.

In the evening of 27th June 1st Summer Football Tournament took place. In that very emotional chalange 9 teams consisted of 5 players fought for a grand price. Tournament had a great intress from players of chess torunament. Matches were very thrilling, and unforgettable match for a final between Mistrzowie and Pioruny finished in penalties. After all cup games three teams qualified for the finals: Czasopismo MAT, I nie ma mocnych and Pioruny. Among them the best turned out to be I nie ma mocnych, who won both games. All teams received dipplomas and a winning team a cup and bottles of Coca-Cola, honouring their great effort.
We'd also like to congratulate supporters who didn't abandon their team till late evening hours [2010-06-28]
As we may have guessed, second round brough us first big surprises. Surely the biggest was made by IM Piotr Dobrowolski, who outplayed 2nd seed Daniel Friedman.
There is still a huge group on the lead that contain Radoslaw Wojtaszek, who didn't give much chances to the best women from Wroc³aw, WGM Jolanta Zawadzka.. Other Gms who lost some point today were Rodshtein, Macieja and Bartel. They all drew to their opponents. Another very good effort was made by young Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who won to Anna Warakomska.
Tomorrow we have two round and it's very likely that in the evening we'll know names of main chalengers of the victory. [2010-06-27]

In 26th of June the 5th International Chess Tournament of Polonia Wroclaw has started. After a short opening ceremony almost 300 players started their games.
The first round of 5th International Chess Tournament of Polonia Wroclaw didn't bring any suprises. Players considered to be favourites were wining their games in a nonquestionable manner. Though their oponents took strong resistance, one by one they were forced to admit supremacy of theirs oponents. The only surprise could have taken place in Mich.Bartel (brother of GM Mateusz Bartel) – Siergiej Tiviakov game. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't able to withstand the advantage he gained after the opening and furthermore he lost during timetroubles.
The nicest game was probably a craft of Pavel Simacek – bronze medalist of recent Czech Championships. After a nice iniciative with black pieces he made a thematical blow with knight on d4. [2010-06-26]
